When I attempt to use Disk Cleanup on my computer, it goes as far as the picture I've attached and no farther... I even started it last night before going to bed and let it run all night with the same results... When it starts, system resources are used at 99% and even hitting the "cancel" button will not cancel it... I have to go in through "ctrl-alt-del" and end the process manually...

    Any suggestions???

Thank you one and all... :)

I solved this problem by doing a repair from my XP CD.

Unfortunatly, this was before the SP1 update.
    It solved the problem.
Had to re-install all the Updates again. Pain in the Ass...

I believed I lost this .exe from either Spybot, or JV16 registry tools.

Anyway another option before the drastic one above is to do the following... it is worth a try.

    In your run box type:

    cleanmgr /sageset:1

This will open up the areas that you can clean.
    check the appropriate boxes.

then type in your run box again:

    cleanmgr /sagerun:1

    See if that works.

If not check back in here and someone may find another way.

My option opens up two or three more boxes than the default.

What is nice for each "set" you can give it a different number and say only check a few boxes. When you do the sagerun: just give it the same number. Hence you can have 20 or 30 different options corresponding to the number you assign.

Why anyone would want to actually do this, is a different story.

Once you set this it becomes the default whenever you run disk cleanup the normal way.

You could also uncheck compress old files option and it should work fine...
