    All of those people died because someone believed that a centrally-planned economy, with apparatchiks and bureaucrats making all of the decisions about who produced what and when in the entire country, was a good thing.

    Forcing people to act against their own personal best interests "for the good of all" has never ended well.

    Forcing people in any manner regardless of motive or objective is almost always destructive.

    I would like to point out that the starvation of the Ukraine had nothing to do with changing economic models, but was a purposeful act by Stalin against a particular people.
