Is this an ISP problem or was it local to GA?
It was deadly slow for a while for me too. All other sites were loading fine.
I'm on Bellsouth FastAccess in TN. This ISP's back-bone provider (WorldCom/Uunet) is undergoing some crazy ass routing changes/upgrades these days (and I'm getting screamed at for it) ... I blamed that at first. (Where is the server located this forum is on?)
Mid ... you're on Comcast, right? (I remember you from the @Home forum during the transition days.)
I could not got in at all for hours.
I don't know, man.
All I know is I had one hell of a day at work and didn't have much time to come to the forum. Next thing I know I get a slew of emails telling this piece of shit ISP is down again.
I will be moving the forum to the box that was promised by the person I spoke of before. I didn't want hand outs from him but screw it.
When my daughter's PC has a better up time than this fucking host, it's time to move.
I also noticed it's slow as hell now. Great fucking job.
Yes on Comcast, the trace points to YIPES as the culprit I think.
I must have read wrong but I thought we had moved the other day to the new server??
Present trace is very good, first time I've seen 0% packet loss. I usually plot it when it begins acting up.
Would you like a 24 hour plot to throw in your provider's face Ethics?
I am quite willing to run one if you so desire.
We did. On a dedicated server but same host. The reasons they gave me prior to the move -- regarding down time-- was that "someone on the same box was taking too much bandwidth".
So I moved.
Now this crap:
Our datacenter was going through a DOS (Denial of Service) attack. We
were finally able to block the IP from where the malformed UDP packets
in to prevent any of us to be able to access your domains or accounts.
We extremely regret the inconvenience caused and are really saddened by
this sort of destructive actions. We have been successful in blocking
the source and things are back up now.
It took them hours to block an IP that was sending out DOS.
What a bunch of bullshit.
My load time sucks, it takes a 2k image a few seconds to load.
Sounds like a line of crap to me too but the response is sadly typical of most any ISP anymore.
Without a clearly defined service level agreement in place we are all at the mercy of these ISP's.
The FCC gave ISP's free reign and they are surely taking full advantage of not having to be held accountable for pathetic service levels.
I feel your pain Ethics.
The site is loading quite nicely right now.
Who is your provider and can you provide a traceroute to here and post it?
Should have seen my letters to them.
Jaguar is doing the web hosting correct? Where are you and how are you connecting?
If your having an issue right now I would see if you can identify the bottleneck by reviewing a traceroute.
Sorry for my E-Mail ethics...
I thought it might be an isolated routing problem and may be a region only having trouble.
No, I am cool now, but yah JaguarPC is doing the hosting... probably not for too long.
Tired of this and quite honestly, I am overpaying them even if this was up 100% of the time.
