I found this, which only confirms we are rapidly devolving into a police state: Feds tell Web firms to turn over user account passwords. While ISP's are resisting, it may be only a matter of time. If they are forced to turnover passwords, the article alludes to them turning over the encrypted form, together with the "salt" or encryption algorithm. Even if they have the encrypted password and the algorithm, it will still take a significant amount of effort to decrypt it. I highly recommend that you obtain a password keeper app and make all of your passwords very complex. I'm talking 12 characters, with upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters. Of course, the Feds could just drop a key logger on your machine and get them that way, but let's hope the Feds don't have that kind of access.
