And what Year Was This Event (or about)?
First guess - Prague summer.
Spanish Civil War I think, maybe after Guernica.
Prague Spring invasion.. 1968
Very nice job.
What tipped you off?
City with overhead cables for electric public transportation, Soviet-style uniformed soldiers being confronted by a (somewhat displeased) civilian, burning building(s) in the background.. '60's era B&W photo, and Seid also mentioning Prague.
What tipped me off was the mild 60s look on the young guy.
Soviet soldier? Believe me, they weren't happy about being there either.
Yeah, I just got the season wrong. Was a big deal when I was a teenager.
I can imagine they weren't by the look on the one troops face.
Somewhere in my family vault-o-pics I've got some pictures of Prague from the 'teens.
Sizeable chunk of my family emigrated (escaped?)from there, to here right after WWI.
My grandfather changed his name to something more American sounding just to join the U.S. Army.
My 'real' Czech last name doesn't even have a vowel, I think.
It does, just not by looking at it from an American Latin alphabet though.
The fall of Stalingrad?
