The bad news is that I had to go to the dentist. The good news is that while in the waiting room I read this excellent, fairly non-partisan article on the national debt. What initially caught my eye is that it's written by James Grant, an excellent writer on financial markets. The hard copy of the article has some nice explanatory graphics that this online copy seems to lack.

Can America afford our $13,903,107629,266 debt?

    Currently 20.6 trillion and counting...

My share of that is $170K. :(

I wish I had that to put into the stock market. I could retire in my early 40s.
