    Top ones by my count:

    Black Teal ------- 9
    OnlyDev --------- 5
    545 ------------- 4
    Dithered --------- 3
    Grunge and Kartel - 2

The rest had only one mention.

OK. Time for the coder to step in and point some things out.

    1. Black Teal - Nice skin. However... Notice the menu bar WAY at the top of the page? It's not going to move. Ever. That's where the search button is. New Posts link has been totally removed, but I **think** I can get it added back to the second bar just above the forum listings.

    2. Only Dev - Decent overall. Pretty much the same layout as to what we're using now and were using with the previous theme. Not much extra coding needed here.

    3. 545 - Similar to Only Dev as far as layout and coding is concerned.

So from a coding standpoint, Black Teal is a bloody nightmare. Each change/update we make to the underlying software that runs the forum requires a change in everything "extra" that's loaded. That includes the "theme" of the forum. This is why when a theme is loaded, we lock it into place and make it the "defacto" standard. That way, there's only one set of changes that need to be made, rather than coding for multiple "themes".

I can still wring Leon's neck for opening this up for debate. But since he's already opened that can of worms, before picking your theme, keep in mind the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to make it work.

I'll be happy to help hold Leon down while you're wringing. ;)

Back when I was into forum administration I did the same thing for the same reason: one theme and lock it to default, because otherwise every little "extra" that you install has to be debugged and tweaked for every theme. Tweaking even one is a PITA, so the only smart thing is to either have a masochist for an admin or keep it to one theme, a simple one.

I'm really pleased with the current theme, because it's easy on the eyes, because it has all the right buttons, and because once again in the new posts you can tell which topics you posted in.

I didn't see a choice for keeping the present theme, although I certainly respect that the forum owner gets to pick.

Shade on shade is hard on these old eyes -give me contrast! Definitely not light on dark. favorite:

    Big Red
  5. Cariad

I hate dark backgrounds, I usually end up highlighting txt just to read it. It's hard on the eyes, and I too would prefer something that used the entire width of the page.

    Light dithered for me.

    2. Only Dev - Decent overall. Pretty much the same layout as to what we're using now and were using with the previous theme. Not much extra coding needed here.

That's the one I wanted until I noticed that we were down to two choices, so I went for Light Dithered.

You know what? I apologize. You do all the work now, and I should have asked. OnlyDev is fine. Want to go with that?

Sounds good to me. I was too late to lodge a vote but if I had the three would have been Only Dev, 545 and Arctyc. :)

For whatever it's worth, I like the theme we use now. I know that wasn't an option, but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in the ring anyway.

If it's a choice between two that most people like pretty equally, and one is a nightmare to code and the other is OK from that perspective, let's try to save Biker the nightmares.

(Or alternatively, we could go the other way. Maybe Biker needs a little more stress in his life. ;))

You really don't want me that stressed. I'm already looking at my chainsaw.

If I knew this before I wouldn't be a patron. The last thing I need is for a BUSINESS to tell me what I can do:

    That's messed up. :shake:

The new skin looks great! I like it. A lot. Has the professional feel of the old one, just with a little oomph to make it look more modern. :)

Aw, shit. :) I'm used to open source forum software where if you don't like it you just uninstall it and install something else.
