This turned up in one the Facebook groups for my hometown. One of our native sons was an amazing hero, as indicated by a Silver Star, two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars. He was retired and died of a heart condition at 52, but he served as the Command Sergeant Major for the Army’s Wounded Warrior Program and saw combat in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Just Cause (Panama), and with Task Force Ranger in Mogadishu, Somalia (yes, that battle).

    RIP.

Col Greg Gadsen (Double amputee soldier that was in the movie Battleship) considered him one of the best soldiers he ever met.
That alone is bad-ass stacked upon bad-ass.
