A new kind of router turns your Wi-Fi network into a fortress

One of these new routers is from Norton. My initial reaction was "HELL NO!", but after taking a closer look, I'm not as inclined to dismiss it outright.

OK. Now I'm very intrigued. However, what it doesn't say is whether the router has to call home to mother in order to function. If this is all via a ruleset on the router, color me impressed and sign me up for one.

    Further reading shows:

**sigh** So instead of everything being compartmented in house, we have yet another device that requires the ability to speak with the mothership in order to function properly.

I'd much prefer to purchase a device that keeps the ruleset locally rather than having to rely on a remote solution in order to function properly.

It's a step in the right direction, but I'd rather have the ability to control everything locally and not depend on a remote 3rd party to keep my stuff secure.
