Moral Licensing

    Perhaps explaining why people are stuck in a rut, whether it's diet, or their careers, or whatever. Basically what it is is you do one thing that’s good, you do another that’s bad (as a reward). So say I went to the gym, burned about 400 calories in an hour (people don't count calories for some reason) and then, on their way from the gym, stop at McDonalds to buy a milkshake as a reward (980 calories). Few months of this, they are wondering why bother going to the gym because their bodies are not responding to gym.

    I'm still waiting for the miracle pill that will just melt the pounds away while I sit in the easy chair, watching TV and eating Twinkies. :lolaway-5:
