The one thing that just screams "HUH?!!" is if there was such a credible threat to cause the aircraft to turn around, why in the hell didn't they land at the nearest airport?!!

Now, get this..... The aircraft was over West Virginia when this all went down. Why the hell do you turn around and fly all the way back to Toronto?

Everyone is jumpy. The backdrop is Israel.

Yeah. But why fly all the way back to Toronto when there are closer airports to land at? That's what I don't understand.

Maybe to save the trouble of putting him on another plane later for Canada. It's the Mounties who'll be dealing with him.

If there's a threat over WV, Pittsburgh could have taken him, as well as Cleveland, Toledo or Columbus. Heck, Charleston or Huntington could have taken that plane, it looks like. If it was real enough to cause a turnaround and escort, it should have been real enough to get him on the ground right now.

Any of the stateside cities could have taken him... but we didn't want to deal with the hassle of all them Canucks running around without going through customs. :p
