As they say in the highest diplomatic circles, the shit got real in Egypt.

It wasn't a good day for journalists covering the story, including a cameraman from Sky News who was killed (video story in linked article).

Good article from The Daily Beast:

And here's a first-hand story from a reporter who got his ass kicked:

Egypt never changed. Even after Sadat agreed to peace with Israel, he still funded and acted as a proponent for madrassahs and what-not, leading to Egypt being one of the major seed beds of fundamentalist Islam. Just goes to show you, Arabs apparently like being under the thumb of a dictator--it makes things easier.

The tribalism and inherent corruption of the Arabs, as well as the tribalism of all non-Western societies, precludes the success of liberal Democracies and/or Republics based upon democratic principles. They must become truly Western in all aspects of their society and cultural expressions. Enforcement and acceptance of Western recognized Human Rights and Civil Rights must also exist. If not then failure is almost certainly the end result of the endeavor.
