I need a good on-line dictionary

Steve Is that it, then?

Martin's post occasionally have caused my vocabulary skills to run screaming for cover.

Other than dictionary.com, which is slow and not very in-depth, does any have a recommendation for a good on-line dictionary that is reasonably fast while providing more than one definition for a word (assuming it has multiples, of course!)

Thanks!

Sorry dude, I use OED CD on my pc most of the time. Etymology is very important to me. :)

Otherwise I'd recommend buying the DVD or CD edition of the Oxford English Dictionary...

Mirriam-Webster is relatively fast.

Edit: you're too fast Techie!

Perhaps, but for the best site it's (and listed in GA's Links) word-origins.com

I'm jealous, ethics. I've been wanting that OED cd-rom for a long time!
I hate hauling out the heavy volume and the magnifying glass. It weighs a ton! :violin:

Actually, one of the future prizes for Post of the Month was going to be OED on a CD ROM. :)
