I am all for punishment being severe enough to help people either think about it before the fact or truly lament after the fact. I have also always been for once the debt has been paid, the criminal doesn't have to keep paying. Listening to the local talk-radio station this afternoon, I come across the story of a convicted felon here in Memphis who is doing his damnedest to legally provide for his two kids. Job opportunities are rare for convicted felons, so he started his own lawn-care business. This past Monday, he goes to get his trailer and equipment to find the lock cut off his storage shed and his equipment gone. I greatly admire and respect this man's efforts. Over $6,000 out of a $10,000 goal has been raised in the past hour when it was started. I'm sending what I can his way. I'm asking you to consider doing the same.
