With the second month of the "new" forum, I'd like to start off by thanking everyone for coming over and mostly for participating and giving this forum a shot. Not in my wildest dreams did I hope for a better crowd to assemble in to one place. The diversity is incredible, the intellect, the written words, the humor, the emotional, personal, and friendship acquired (and still being acquired) is truly priceless.

I'd like to thank each and every one of you for giving your time, effort, your thoughts, and opinions, no matter how much in the majority and minority you stood. They are precious no matter if anyone replied or didn't. People see things, nod in agreement, mutter to themselves, "What an incredible angle" and move on to the next message, while the first always going with them, and not just in the cyberspace.

What I'd like to do is share in this message what we are in the process of doing or in the near future planning to do.

    Hopes and Dreams

Since October the first, I've been saying that this is YOUR forum. I am merely a volunteer that wants this great crowd to succeed in whatever that they seek. The old timers here are also volunteers. We devote our time in making this place a better environment for everyone involved. Most, if not all, members are doing the same thing. Devoting their times, their emotions, opening up their personal life or their knowledge and wisdom that they have acquired and want to pass along.

What I'd also like to do is be realistic in my hopes for the future. Reality like people disagreeing, getting in to a topic that's dear to them and thus very personally attached to it. Ensuing feelings are hurt, and people will take things personally attacking the messenger and not the messenger's idea, or opinion and thought. To deny this will not happen is to close one's eyes. We let this happen, but we control where it happens by moving the personal attacks off to the most suited forum (UiF) while keeping the original thread.

People will join this wonderful place, and some people will find that this is not the place they belong or wish to participate in. We have been fortunate that this has not occurred, at least not to my knowledge. What I want to say is that it is ok, and it is a natural process that will happen no matter how much I, and the rest of the members, would want to hang on to each and every member.

I do, however, want to minimize this by the structure you already see before you. There's more freedom to do things, say things, and even upload things than many other forums on the internet. We tend to let the members know what is appropriate and not with moderators or administrators but by people like you who have come here and found a new home that is cozy, warm, and comfortable. Being that you already know how this home works you start showing others by example, nudging them along with humor and kindness, and other means of communication. All of these things work and we have seen them throughout the debates that cooled down as fast as they flamed up.

If there is something you are concerned about, we want to hear it about. Please, never feel you are imposing by PMing me. I'd rather know about an issue or a misunderstanding and nip it at the root rather than it blind side us.

    New Section(s)

The Gin Joint has officially opened. I am sure people are just looking at it now and afraid to post anything. Dive in folks!

On the same topic, I'd like to say that The Gin Joint was NOT my idea. It was brought up by other issues and some of you thought it would be a good section to have here. I agreed and we all voted on the name of it. See how "your forum" concept is at work here? I had fun with the whole process and HOPE that most of you felt part of the creation. The more part of something everyone is, the more responsibility they want for the success of it.

Nothing is set in stone and with the growth of the site, there are more interests that lie out of our spectrum, but that could change and we COULD incorporate other sections.

For instance, a person asked me if we can have a Sports and Outdoors section. I thought it was a great idea, especially with all of the talk about hunting. The person also mentioned many ideas he/she has with this section like having our own fantasy leagues with professional sports.

I'd like to hear opinions about this and how many people would be interested. Perhaps in a new thread?

I am sure I will hear more great ideas, resulting in a site that's just more than politics, religion, and Up in Flames :), it becomes a small(or large) community gaining support and participation from all walks of life.

I love the community already, I am looking forward to see if we can expand on this. :)

While we move the forum, I will be also going for a bigger server and much more space/bandwidth. I am already negotiating a deal with an ISP that will hopefully cut down all of the down time and give us more space to upload files or images.

Which reminds me. I know many have given me suggestions on the software patches that will make your experience here much more at ease. As you know, the engine underneath the forum is VBulletin. They have been developing the new version of this same software for over a year and it's going to be ready for us very soon. I am sure you will love the changes.

That is about it, folks, enjoy the forum.

Thank "YOU" Leon for providing this site.
As stated above, many threads are read but not commented on.
But if read, provokes the attention process and adds to our own capacity.

KUDO's to you and all the older members who have accepted us here.

Great, Leon. Now when can we start selling ads and putting pop-ups for porn sites and sex-toy stores in the forum? Got to find some way to cover your costs. :)

When you see that, it's time to look for another place, and take me with you. ;)

Never was a fan of pop ups or other invasive ads.

Thanks for the support folks... gonna take Shiny's advice tomorrow also. :)

Great idea, Robert! Plus, I need places to advertise my gay porn sites. ;)

(I was kidding for those of you who still have raised eyebrows.)

Thank you Leon for putting so much work into this. I love this place.

    Now, about this new forum:
<i>"The Gin Joint has officially opened. I am sure people are just looking at it now and afraid to post anything. Dive in folks!"</i>

I assume you need so many $ to access it? It appears I'm below the poverty line. :(

Actually, you need an invite that should be coming in the near future. It's an over 18 forum.

A big 'Thank You' to Leon for having us here. This is a fantstic place!

We do not need ads or pop ups. Just good old fashioned drug smuggling and pr0n distribution will do fine. Save some space for a decent FTP setup :) The overseas connections will be in touch :)
  11. Misu

    Misu Hey, I saw that.

    Thank you Leon :)

Gosh, all this praise...let me be the first to shatter the rice bowl:

    Keylin, you bastard! :)

I think we should have a travel section...I always hunt down the lowest airfares and such (this just in: business class to Europe, $700; first class to Florida, $498--sorry Misu, valueless to you;)), plus we've all been to places on the globe others have not seen (obviously, Leopoldo is an inveterate traveller through Europe, I hit up Asia, and Robaire has spent his fair share of duty in the former USSR). How's that?

    This place is great.

Except for Leon; he's a bastard.

Everything that's good about here is my doing.

Everything that's poor was done by a certain bastard. :)

Ahhh sounds like my day job Steve :)

Typical day usually has the following :

You will receive none of the credit and all of the blame.

You will be everyone's asshole and nobody's hero.

If we wanted the truth we would have asked for it, now tell us what we want to hear.

Travel section. A good idea. Let me think about the structuring of that and what and who will be used there. ;)

They are round-trip...which one are you interested in? I'll send you the info.

The biz class to Europe is an extremely good deal, actually.
