With the death penalty having been brought up in another thread, I decided to do a bit of research on my home state. Having been in law enforcement since 1969, I have quite a bit of first hand knowledge for my jurisdiction, but had no idea of the depth of information that was available for the entire state.

I present this as a means of informing my colleagues here of some of the statistics in Indiana.

    Public opinion polls... http://www.clarkprosecutor.org/html/death/opinion.htm

Those for and against figures for the 60's surprise me. Why do you think it has changed so significantly to be up to 75% for in the most recent poll?

I found this one to be very interesting.

So much for no liberal bias in the Media, Ken.

There are those who are so hardened, the punishment of death is not a deterrent for their heinous criminal acts, but it damn sure will stop them from doing it a second time, or a third time.

We don't need more laws, we need to enforce those we already have.

Capital punishment saves lives. Our lives.
