What a crock of shit. You can look at all the "you are special" morons and find the reason. No trips to the wood shed and failure to assign chores and MAKE them do it (including the consequences of doing it wrong) is what's wrong.

Haha, I LOVED that excuse and I LOVED that they put that in there. Estroff Marano, a confused Liberal Jew.

Yep, I see this everyday. Even know a guy that helps his 13 year old get dressed, even helping him pull his pants up and pulling his socks on for him.

    Here's another one for you.

In Laws have a boy whom they have pretty much always spoiled, but he did get fairly good grades and was never much trouble, so when he wanted to do a degree in Computer Animation they helped him out. They live up in NE, and sent him to some University in Florida. They figure they don't want him working, so that he can concentrate on his studies...... here we go down a long slippery slope.
They buy him a truck, pay for the gas, insurance and maintenance. They also figure that they don't want to waste money on renting apartments, so they buy a 1 bedroom condo and let him use it, plus pay all his food, and utilities etc.

Somewhere in here, around 2nd year he finally gets his first girlfriend, she moves in even though he has strict instructions that the place is for him only. Well duh.... she's using him for free rent and after another year she graduates and is gone. So we are around 3rd year and he decides like a total moron that he would rather live in a shit hole with his low life friends that be in the condo by himself. He moves out... and the In Laws find the condo pretty much trashed and have to spend a ton of time and money to fix it up.

4th year spent living with his low life friends, who use him for transportation and his allowance... yes they still don't want him working and give him money, plus they still pay for the gas/insurance on the truck.

End of year 4 ... family members books flights to his graduation, but right before the graduation he finally admits he didn't graduate!!! WTF!

Anyway so they figure might as well get him graduated, so they agree to put him back in and finish his degree, still paying him to go to College. Oops - doesn't graduate again!!! WTF - after lots of discussion they decide to try one more time and are in constant contact with the school to monitor his progress. 3rd time is a charm right? Not with this guy - he flunks out again and the school finally says you can't come back because somebody might actually want to go to college and learn something and you're taking up a valuable spot.

In the meantime they have rented out the Condo to some kids that their Son knows - oops - ends up trashed again.
Somewhere around this point they actually cut him off for a bit and he wrecks the truck, and ends up giving the wrecked truck to the guys he is living with in lieu of rent.

Now he has decided he wants to go back to school and study ART or something else and wants to move back into the renovated condo. So far they have refused that, but guess what? they got the truck back from the guys he was living with and fixed it up and gave it back to him.

The sad part is I left a lot of stuff out and the above is just the executive summary.

So there's about $80K of College debt accumulated, and not a damn thing to show for it except a job bagging groceries!! He hasn't learned a damn thing and neither have the parents.
