Remember the case 20 years ago when the courts in Ireland attempted to prevent a 14 year old rape victim from obtaining an abortion? Ireland has traditionally been a staunch Catholic stronghold and has some of the most draconian laws regarding abortion in Europe. Well now it's time to look at Brazil (yes, it's an old article). When you have an institution that refuses to report abuse cases, treats children with callousness, and protects those who commit crimes against children it's time to revisit the laws that have traditionally made religious institutions off limits. When bank accounts start getting frozen and seized, you can bet they'd start giving up every single child molester they're hiding.
