... these trojan viruses can continue? My wife, "I did not do anything", got another instance of those trojans that want you to pay for a program to remove them. I had to safe boot and restore a system restore point from May to get around it. So they have a site where you buy their program, how do authorities not stop this shit?
The seeding server is usually located outside the US, so there's not much that can be done about them. Infection route is usually via Flash or Java. Ensure both are kept up to date. This site has an excellent on-line scan that will point out outdated programs and provide links to get them updated. http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online/ What browser does she use? If it's anything but FireFox, kill it so she can't use it and then load AdBlock Plus and NoScript for FireFox.
You should make the Secunia link a sticky. I never heard of it before. Re what has happened to Shiny's wife's computer, I've had that happen several times, but I got it while on FireFox too.
You can say more with that word than most people can say with an entire page, LOL! Let me finish my second cup of coffee first. I'm running late this morning because I was out of town all weekend.
