In August 1980, Azaria Chamberlin disappeared from her parents' tent in Northern Territory of Australia. Her mother was accused of murdering the 2-month old girl, but swore that dingoes had carried her off. She was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison. She was released in 1986 after the chance discovery of an item of Azaria's clothing, and ruled innocent of murder in 1988. But no one would say conclusively that dingoes were responsible. Now, after 4 inquests, one finally has. I cannot imagine being found guilty of murdering your child when you know you didn't do it, and having to live under that cloud for so long.
