Some say imitation is the best form of flattery. The Harley design has been copied for some time now.

My dad has the Royal Star Tour Deluxe and loves it. He had been looking at the Road King. Even had a 105th Anniversary one picked out. But, the price difference, cost of accessories, service costs, etc. got him leaning towards the RSTD. Then he took it for a ride and was that was the end of that.
There is a huge difference between the two, mechanically. The HD is a V-Twin, the Yamaha is a V-4 :)

Still uses the V-Max engine, if I recall. Water cooled, shaft drive. Some definite advantages on the side of the Yamaha.
But.... I still like the V-Twin myself. Proven design, goes forever, and I can still work on 'em to some extent! :haha:

Yep it does. Overall, they are similar bikes.
Whoever designed how the Road King's saddlebags open should be shot though :)
Oh, and the RSTD is $3k cheaper than the Road King (base MSRP vs. base MSRP)

Don't want one, though.. Still looking to get that new Geezer Glide once the cash flow starts up again.
