All the guys there are R6 riders so take it for what its worth. It's NOT as easy as cruisers and definitely uncomfortable (and my year's model happens to be the LEAST comfortable of all prior R6's) but it's doable with many breaks and gizmos.

My buddy always wanted a Harley and bought one about 8 years ago. One ride to Laughlin, Nev was enough for him. He recently bought another Harley which a deceased friend's wife sold him, supposedly more of a cruiser type. Since that ride to Nevada though he's uses his BMW which he bought right after. The Harley are for Sundays, the BMW for work and long trips. He couldn't take the vibration.

It really depends on the Harley. Some are more jittery than others but hey, you really can't compare the Beemer with Harley. Beemers are awesome.

The more comfortable the seat, the better for me as a passenger. I've enjoyed long rides on all rides when the seat was comfortable. You really have to do the same as you would do for a long car ride. Stop for breaks and stretch so your bum doesn't fall asleep. On longer reach type bikes where leaning forward is involved for the rider, I could imagine arms needing more of a rest than a cruiser type.

I can't stress the importance of breaks. Braz's took us on 2 week trip when we got out of high school that about ruined my knees. His Dad did not believe in stopping unless it was for gas or food. We spent 17 hours on the bike one day. My knees started to lock up. We now stop about every 200 miles or more if my knees are twitching during our road trips.
Leon, I have found the perfect road trip (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=269251&highlight=angola) for you to get all the kinks worked out (some pics may be NSFW). :)

That's hard-core! If I do anything like that, it would be from St. Petersburg to Siberia.
Who is with me?

What are the roads like? That actually sounds like a lot of fun!

What roads? ;)
No, there are roads, but we would have to ride in the summer. And it would have to be Dual Bike something like this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_R1150GS).

Put in 300 miles today. Road from 7:30AM till just now. I concede, there's no way in hell these rockets can compete with Cruisers. I am soooooooo bear and fried right now.

Maybe putting a sidecar on it would help. Maybe two sidecars would help, one on each side. :haha:

Hell, you should be fine. All comfy and shit. My wrists are about to pop out of my arms. My abdomen and back are on fire and my whole body still feels like it's vibrating.
But hey, I had a blast. I went out to Bear Mt. and it was just gorgeous weather and ride. Finally found my group of bikers I will be part of for a long time I think.

As long as you had fun, that's all that counts bro.
I went out with dad and 3 of my best friends. Stopped at a biker bar for burgers after about 40 miles and cruised the rest of the time. Was pretty cool, dad with his Royal Star, me with my V-Star, and all 3 of my friends ride different flavors of 1700 Road Stars. Good looking group of bikes ;)

Cherish those times, Mike. A relationship you have with your dad is priceless.

This is Bear Mountain, upstate NY. Green Goblin (Paul) and his girlfriend, they rode 2_up. Another shot at the pier, and the whole Secret Society MC that rode up.

The more trips you do the better your body will be able to handle it. It just has to get used to doing it
And great pictures!!

I wonder if there's something you could get in an alternative seat. Like how they have gel seats for regular bicycles...that type of thing?

It's not the ass or the seat, it's the positioning of the bike. ;)
