I got bombarded today on a 4 hour ride through Long Island. What do you guys use to clean off that bug splatter? Please advise on home products, I don't want to rely on some special formula. :P

Time to invest in some tear off sheets for your visor. Most home products are too harsh for the soft plastic on that thing. If you can't get the tear off sheets, get some Rain X for helmets. Stuff works great in letting the water sheet off the visor as well as making it easier to get the bug guts off.

Ah... So rainX before getting hit. What about after?

Mild soap and a soft cloth. Mild is the key here. Gonna take some elbow grease, but the last thing you want to do is scratch the visor.

Also, stay away from anything with ammonia. It's been my experience that it will fog the plastic.

Yepper. Windex is BAD for visors. The plastic is too soft and absorbes the chemicals.

You may want to try something I find works well on plastic, including LCD computer screens. I use my homemade solution that I use to clean my glasses. 3 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol with a couple of drops of mild detergent.
