While I don't doubt the fatalities, I believe this article by GEICO is more of trying to vindicate their atrocious rates for supersports bikes.

Specced out Vulcan 2000 back in Feb. The bike is almost 15K. Insurance for me was a little over 1K. When I bought my R6, insurance (same coverage) was 2400!!!! The bike is almost 5K LESS than the Vulcan.

Wow, you'd have a fit if I told you how much I'm paying for insurance on my bike lol.

I am not paying 2400 though. I went to a mom and pop shop insurance paying about 900 for everything.

I suppose that probably isn't bad, considering the bike you're riding and where you live.

I'm paying $450/year through State Farm.

Cool, figured as much. This area is one of the highest areas and remember 900 is with my 10% MSF discount AND Lojack.

Leon, you missed all the fun and games from the 80's when some insurance companies were refusing to insure motorcycles that were over a certain size, regardless of make.

I found a use for chrome today...

At a traffic light early in the morning headed east, the sun was blinding me when I tried to see if he light had changed. By looking at the reflection on the top of my chrome headlight, the angle between the light and the sun was increased enough that I was able to tell if the light was red or green.

Other than that, it's a pain to clean and polish. Not sure what the survey will say about accident rates.

That's one thing I DON'T miss with my crotch rocket. My cousin and I went for 8 hour riding session and his bike needed about an hour of prepping because of all the chromage.

I heard about this. Anything over 600cc I believe?

1000cc... Had a hell of a time insuring my Yamaha at the time. It was a 1200cc V4. Even with my instructor qualifications, it was hell trying to get insurance on that thing.
