We bought another bike. This time, I'm going to learn how to ride it too. Yamaha Seca. 1981 shaft drive. Husband's friend was selling it dirt cheap. He can't get his license back so he's selling off a few of his bikes. It's a nice bike. Smallish. It's a 750cc. I will learn how to ride this bike. I will not let this opportunity go. Even if it's not done with school yet, and just going up the block with it to say I did it. I am going to get my permit and do this. Even if I never really ride it, I want to learn how to.
Going to learn some stuff right now. Wish me luck. Not going anywhere yet. Just learning what to do with it. :)

I just did my first clutch release ever. I did extremely well and if I never do anything to ride the bike, I feel I've conquered a huge monster. I wasn't afraid and rode across part of our property here in the front. So, I've already done something I've always dreamed of with that. That was the part I was always afraid of. I even rode up a small hill in the meantime and did great. All on property here. I could ride on the property for a while without ever going on pavement which is nice. Even a road up top that's just a walking trail really. I'll get this done.
Thanks. It's a nice size for me. Big but not too big. I can shake from side to side without feeling afraid to dump it.
Edit: Have to take the safety course in Maine, and don't know if I want to go full blown just yet to actually do it just yet. I'm just thrilled over getting to ride the thing on dirt for the little bit I did today. It was something I always wanted to do and if I God forbid died today, I did it! LOL And I stopped well too when I wanted to stop. I was scared when I let the clutch out like 4 times and stalled it. The one time I did it, omg I still can't believe I did it. I spent a whole day one time when I owned the Rebel and couldn't do it from fear. I did it. LOL :)

Thanks!
LOL I want to do the license thing, just to have done something I always dreamed of really, but I have to be honest, I'm not in a rush to ride the thing or anything. I've got to look into the safety courses here, and see if we can swing it right now. I'm in no rush because I'm so busy with the new business thing. No time in my head right now to give both the time they deserve really. So, don't look for me to be doing this immediately now, but I will. I'm closest than I've ever been before, actually knowing how to shift into first, did it myself, and rode the thing for a good ways in first. LOL On grass but still, I did it. My husband didn't think I'd have the guts to do it, and after stalling it so many times after releasing the clutch, he wasn't expecting me to actually go anywhere with it. He couldn't stop saying how proud he was of me last night for doing so well too. I was able to stop and everything, and I didn't panic or wobble. I put my feet down fine when I came to my stop and everything. For me, that meant the world to me really, just doing just that much right now. I overcame a huge fear yesterday with being able to finally release that clutch, and prepared to deal with the weight. One day, hopefully soon, will get my license. :)

Way to go Vio! Now that you have conquered your personal demon and put the bike in motion I have every faith in you that you can earn your license. Don't let any little setbacks turn you away from your goal. You can do it.
Even if you should choose not to ride often getting your own license makes you a better, more sypathetic, passenger. I have seen many passengers that used to lean against turns or shift around frequently turn into far more disciplined passengers after having been in the front seat themselves. Having a passenger that works with you in riding the bike rather than against you is a blessing.

Thank you!
I still am thinking about it today. It just happened so fast when I got it right. It wasn't all that far in distance, but time just stopped. I'll never forget that experience ever. I still smile ear to ear thinking about it.

Yeah and this one was garage kept so it's really in great shape considering the age. The engine is spotless and there was just a tad of surface rust from the last owner leaving it out this winter. It was well loved you can tell. Ours is the exact same color as that one. Red. It's one down, then up nuetral, then next gears above that. Think it's 4 gears or something. We don't have the rack on the back though. Ours has a little tail thing instead that's the same color as the bike and a brake light I believe is there too. Everything works on it. Paint is like new. I'll take a picture once husband gets it looking better. Tires are bad. They're almost rotted through the sides and there's no mirrors on it and one front directional is missing. Not one scratch on the paint at all. No dents or anything. Shaft driven like the Guzzi was so husband loves it. LOL :)

Thank you!
I just said f it to the fear. I haven't tried to do it in many years. I was out on the bike I owned with my ex husband, the Rebel, before my oldest two were born and just kinda gave up after not even trying. I sat on the thing with him telling me it was going to be ok and holding me, for hours it seemed. Tried to get the guts up again after taking breaks and everything. It just was something I couldn't make myself do. Could not let that clutch out. My hand was frozen in fear. I just was so overtaken by fear, that I said this is something scary, and never tried it again. I must have been like 22-23 or so then, last I'd actually tried. This time, I was like, I could die tomorrow God forbid. I need to make myself do this. And I did it. :)

Well we found out yesterday when insuring and registering the bike it's actually a 1982. LOL Was funny because when he bought it, he was told it was a 1981. Up here for things over a certain age, you don't need a title to sell a bike if it's over a certain amount of years old, so all we had to go by was a sticker. He's really excited to be riding again, and I'm really excited over the gas we'll save now on his commute to work daily.
