This actually happened to me today on the Belt and since I didn't have a video camera with me, I found a pretty good instructional video on what that means. Basically, if your bike has 6 speeds and you are going 80mph you are fine (like I do). But if you get distracted like this guy did and NEED throttle, under-revving is when you are in 6th gear and going about 40... When you need that throttle, there will be a sloooooow response and you won't get the bike where you want it at the speed/time you need.

The video is good because he talks about other things as well which are equally important at high speeds.

Enjoy!

That's a good video. I didn't do a whole lot of high speed riding today and was 95% on two-lane roads, but I accidentally skipped a gear coming off a curve and had NO power. Quick to correct, but if you've got a car behind you...could get hairy really quick.

No doubt, especially a cager who tailgates.

Heh, had that happened today. Some piece of shit in an old Ford Escort. He got an earful of V-twin exhaust for his trouble. ;)

That guy uses the f-word too often (i.e. at all) to be a good instructional video.
Where was that, the effin Garden State Parkway? I'd guess that from the toll booths.

You could tell from the drivers that it is. ;)
