Went riding today. Came home and my eyes are so red it's like they are bleeding. Windy as hell too!
If it weren't for Nasonax (http://www.nasonex.com/nasx/application?PID=0001084001000000) I'd be dying right now instead of being irritated.
I'm having a tougher time than usual down here too. Went to the doctor he gave me some medication that kept me up awake ALL night. I took a half a pill the next day and then haven't taken them since. Sneezing, and then the build up of whatever in the sinuses and then the ear. I was listing (sp?) to the left the other day, lol. First year I was down here was the worst...this is right behind it.

Yeah the trees are budding here and I'm already sneezing like mad. This isn't even the worst of it. When the pollens are visably noticable up here, omg it's horrible. Good thing you find something that works Leon, and allows you to ride without side effects.

No kidding. I had tears in my eyes today riding too...but it was from laughing my ass off watching my dad lay his bike down (doing a whole 2mph in an empty parking lot..no damage to dad or the bike)

That slow crap is tough! I think the proficiency self-test is when you master that. I am still doing stupid shit and knowing I am doing it after wards.
One mistake I made was riding behind a truck and keeping to the right of him (I DID think he was going to turn left but he went straight). What happens is that the cars who ARE making THEIR left from the opposite side think there's a game after the truck cause they don't see me. Luckily, some gas and I was fine. But man, what a stupid newbie shit to do.

It was just the wind gusts here today that got him. I was laughing at him because he was giving me crap for bitching about how bad the wind was. ;)

OMG Leon please be careful. :(
I had a bike riding along me by the side rear, in my blind spot the other day. If I didn't hear him I would have never known he was there. I couldn't see him in any of my mirrors or windows. Him having what I would call a noisy bike is what saved him and me from an accident.

It's true. Husband always made his bikes loud so people can hear him. It really does save lives. Annoys the neighbors, but they get over it. If they don't then f em.

I haven't been on a bike in ten years, but I used to ride pretty often.
And I've got to say that the comments in the above quotes will not win bikers many friends.
Open road, no problem. :)
But, blowing it out in a residential area, when non-bikers are sitting on the porch relaxing after a grueling day at work; is just going to get them to call the cops to enforce otherwise ignored db level noise laws.
Which they're set up to do.
Say f em if you want, but I assure you, my neighbors are not prone to "get over it". ;)
No, the second time a biker goes through around here like a thunderstorm will likely cost him/her money.

Joe, I hear ya. I have stock pipes on mine. They are not loud but they are loud enough for cars to hear. But besides that, I never ride as if anyone can see OR hear me. I ride as if no one sees me and that's defensive riding on steroids.
that's defensive riding on steroids.
Good idea. :)

My husband's never exceeded noise level laws and was legal. Up this way they're really strict about that stuff and you will get caught if you're exceeding noise levels. He was always considerate and rolled the bike out in the morning to end of drive when we lived in the town house, when he left for work. When he came home at 5pm , people would comment how loud the bike was.
Funny but I had a 69 Mustang that was pretty loud with stock dual exhaust on it. I had a neighbor complain and call the police. The cop actually came and asked me to start it and shook his head and told me he was sorry. Ther witch came out the front door to yell at me and the officer told her there's nothing wrong or illegal with my car. It was a classic car and made noise and I had to work so it was started at 8 am every morning. Exhaust was totally legal.
You can't please everyone. Not everyone enjoys hearing a motorcycle even if it's a quiet one, or a vintage car, so I don't pay it much mind. Stay respectful and when someone complains just to complain, I salute them. ;)

Heh, I started up my '69 Ford a couple of weekends ago, and it has NO exhaust on it, other than the manifolds and about 12" of pipe right now.
My next door neighbor was giving me a big thumbs up and said it sounded awesome LOL.

LOL well at least your neighbors appreciate the sound of a real car. OMG I really couldn't believe that, that time. I was in the house and alone and the police came to the door. When they told me what they were there for, I just chuckled because I'm smart enough to know you don't exceed legal stuff unless you like to pay fines and tickets. Wasn't worried but it was embarrassing. The cop actually asked me to please start the car. Checked all my paperwork and everything. When the witch came to the door and started to yell I lost it with her rude comments. I think I yelled at her that I'd file a complaint for harrassment if she tried that again, and the cop just put his hand up to me like shhhh I'll take care of her after he chuckled hearing the car and said it was beautiful.
My husband's Guzzi was loud and he made it louder for safety up here where people pass all the time and go fast on side roads even. He was stopped a few times and was always proven legal with his exhaust. The nerve though, that he was nice enough to go down to the highway almost just after where the driveway ended at a frontage road, by pushing and gliding, and still neighbors would comment when he would come home from work, that the thing was loud. All that matters is that it's legal. He's not stupid and he made sure to stay legal because we're not into paying fines and tickets. LOL But still, those very same people were the ones to comment when the guy across the way started his bike that was as quiet as a regular car. Was a racing style bike and it was very quiet. People will complain about anything sometimes. :(
