There are two high risk areas:

1. When a car is turning left on to your path
2. When you are too wide on a curve.

This is a fatal head on example of #2:

Back in the 80's I rode up to Aspencade in Colorado, and took the scenic route through the mountains in NM. Forgot most of that area is open range. Was several times coming around a curve and coming eyeball to eyeball with a steer.

Yes, true. GOD that is tough. I feel for the guy who was just minding his own business and actually stayed on his side of the road.
