So, my dad finally did it. Went and traded in his Goldwing today. He wanted something more manageable than that 900 pound beast. And, something slower. He was getting carried away with the power of the 'Wing and knew he was going to get himself into trouble.

So, here's his new ride (and mine). It's a 2006 (brand new..only had 9 miles on it) Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe - Midnight Edition. Gorgeous bike. :)

Going to look pretty cool once my dad and I get together with my best friends. One rides a Yamaha Roadstar and the other rides a Yamaha Roadstar Midnight Silverado.

Wow, that is AWESOME! Great looking bikes!

Yamaha? Welcome to the family! ;)

I sat in the RoadStar and in their class, Yamaha felt much better than all the others.

I think I'm wet now. LOL Seriously! Both of those bikes side by side are just freaking so sweet looking. The backrests and all. That's the first thing I look at when I see a bike I'd want to ride on with touring types. So nice to have a backrest on those bikes for passenger to just relax and be comfortable. Beautiful paint and bags. He looks like he's got a good amount of gas storage there too. Best of luck and safe riding to you both with them!!! You're very fortunate to have a dad that shares this with you. Must be a great thing! :)

Damn, I should've bought a motorcycle years ago! ;)

And yeah, it is very cool being able to go out riding with my dad. :)

LOL those backrests are like open invitiations for women to get comfy and go for a long ride. ;)

Sport bikes are nice because there's lot of hugging going on, but I prefer to just sit back hands free with a comfy back rest and a nice chunky set of pegs for my feet. Much more comfortable on long rides. :)

Pegs?! Footboards are the only way to go!

Ah I don't know how floor boards would do with my husband though. He has the balls and flexibility to hit pegs on turns with his riding. He's hard on bikes. I honestly don't think floor boards would stay on any bike he owns for very long. LOL

My husband is a mental case if he's alone on a bike. Especially on dirt bikes and atv's. The guy can do things seriously, just short of upside down stuff. He's amazing sometimes when I dared to watch him do stuff in sand pits on the atv. No fear. Scares the shit outta me. ;)

Floorboards are hinged, so if you drag them, they fold up, just like pegs.

I was gonna say, who wouldn't want them hinged? ;)

Well if my husband's Guzzi had them which I can't recall, they were gone fast I know that much. I almost could swear the bike had a runnin board. It was a police bike. Gotta dig up a picture and see if it had them. I know his bikes before didn't since they were more sporty and smaller.

Guzzi's are sweet bikes - the only thing I didn't like was the torque on the shaft drive twisting the bike to one side.

Yeah his was shaft driven too. It was like a 1984 or 83 I think. California edition. Had a long seat and hard bags. He never mentioned any problem with any pulling. I do remember him being surprised at how something so big took corners well. He modified it a lot. He even had glow lighting on it at the end. Like blue flourescent tubing by the engine or something. He took the windshield off and swapped the seat to a single after I stopped riding with him when son was born. That was a fun bike. Huge and scared me though. LOL The thing was too loud though. I could hear him coming home on the highway over a mile away. When he had his back surgery, we sold it. Got back what we put into it plus too which was nice. Was very sad to see it go. He won trophies for it for best in show when it was all stock paint with bags on and stuff, at local events and a few at the rodeos too after with his modifications and stuff.
