First day that it felt really warm today, so after work I headed down to my dealer and bought my bike.
I get to pick it up on Sat. This is it, sitting, waiting for the Saturday. Yes, it's a 2008, R6. :)

Nice! Funny looking Harley, though!
Grats! But why Saturday? Are they out of stock on the training wheels? ;)

Nice! Funny looking Harley, though!
I need to grow in to a Harley, perhaps in 5 years or so. Love the R6 though and it's much lighter bike for me-- for now.

YES!
No, I didn't want to rush the whole thing, so let them do the paper work, get insurance, etc... prep the bike. I come in, sign papers and go out riding for a--what's looking to be -- nice day. :)
And thanks Mike. :)

Congrats Leon. I know how thrilling it is to get the new toy. I still remember my huge woodie when I bought my brand new '70 Corvette. I hope your woodie doesn't impede your changing gears. ;)

LOL! No...
Wanna hear something funny? Because it was a gorgeous day out (first one in 2008 here in NYC) the bike shop was full. Mostly guys but one or two girls. It was actually pretty loud with everyone talking... Then someone revved a bike engine outside the store and this one girl goes, "wow, my nipples just got hard..."
The most hilarious thing is that you could have heard a pin drop right after that...
LMAO!

Thank you, dear lady. :)
I love the black and yellow combo, it's what I seek in almost everything I buy (watches, hats, everything except Pitt Penguins Uniforms ;)). But for bikes being more visible can and IS a lifesaver. So this was a true seller for me (that's Yamaha's limited edition color as well).
Got a black jacket, black gloves, Black boots, and yellow and black Arai helmet. Can't wait for Sat. :)

Don't forget to check for motor vehicle reflector regulations for helmets by you. I know when we lived in NJ, we had to have reflector stickers on helmets. This was a while ago and I'm sure they taught you in school, but just in case it is law still, have em ready to slap on.
Look at you already. I'm really proud to see how much you're truly into this Leon. You're really doing it. Right down to the helmet having the same color scheme as the bike. Very nice touch. ;)

Congrats on the new bike. Looks painful (I am getting too old to hunch over all day on one of those) yet beautiful all at the same time. Have you figured out what the longest stretch of curvy road is near you yet to turn that thing loose on? I predict much fun in your future.

Congrats Leon....it's not bad looking for a rice grinding crotch rocket. ;)
Now, just don't hit anything because with that dramatic hump from the seat to the tank, if you hit something you'll be neutered real quick.

I can wait, but only because I'm turning 35 lol.
Hopefully the weather holds for you this weekend so you can get out and enjoy the bike a bit. Supposed to rain here all weekend *sigh*

Congrats, and, Hey, let's be careful out there!
I'm seeing mid-40's overnight saturday, be prepared for the cold!
(Probably this means don't just dress warm but bring plenty of cash and stick to the roads with coffee shops).
Try to stay mellow. Respect the break-in period. The partial-throttle riding will give you a lot of practice at some stuff you might not expect to happen. I remember blowing through more than one stop sign during my first weeks. Granted, they were new to me on old familiar routes, but there was a learning curve between the practice range and real roads. I recall spending a lot of time watching the road really close in frot of the bike, maybe a little too paranoid about nails, glass & chuck-holes, but it takes time to learn what the road feels like.
Don't go out of your way to scratch up the bike, but you might want to take it through some construction zones to get a feel for dirt and bumpies. As I recall, the financial district is under construction, one of your haunts, and deserted on sundays, too.
Really, good luck and wisdom to ya, man!
