I've had dogs, cats, fish, snakes, lizards, frogs, crawdads, that's it. :)
Except for the dogs and cats the rest were wild caught. I used to catch snakes in the High Sierras and sell them to pet stores, like garter snakes, king snakes, California rosy boas. LH: "Wild game hunter!" :)

I have had frogs too. Also a rabbit I got for Easter one year. I figured that I was probably going to forget a few types of nanimals (purposeful misspelling) that I have had.
Side topic - I also remember trying to squish lightning bugs when they were lit in order to smear bright bug juice on myself.

I have dogs and cats currently.
I've also had hamsters, rabbits, and frogs.
I worked on my uncle's farm over summers, but cattle, pigs, chickens, etc. aren't exactly pets :)

Dogs cats rabbits hogs cattle sheep goats potbellied pig pidgeons ducks geese chickens guineas peacocks and one racoon named Rocky o and a coot that I nursed back to health. They're so stupid they literally fly into things hence the phrase "you old coot" One flew Hell bent for election into my grain leg and knocked himself out. In the process he broke a leg. The boys taped him together and tossed him in with the geese. He could have flown off but he hung around a couple of weeks.

Parakeets when I was a kid and now a toy poodle and a Cockatiel. The poodle is nine years old and has at least another 5 good years left in her. Cockatiels are smaller parrots than Amazon greys so while they won't live for 80 years they do have a long life span.
Their average lifespan is between 10 and 16 years, but when fed a healthy, varied diet and given a safe, nontoxic environment, a Cockatiel can live 20 to 25 years - some will even live into their 30s! So a parrot is a lifetime commitment and is like having either a two (Cockatiel and similar) or four (Amazon Grey and similar) year old child in permanent residence with you for a very long time!
So since Spunky Bird is 12, we plan on having a two year old with us for some time to come yet.

I've had a hamster and several fish (feeder)
My sister had a dog
When I was very young we had a siamese cat. I don't really remember much other than it broke my sister of sleepwalking after clawing her face every night she would sleepwalk downstairs.
Then I met Els. Her family had:
Goats
Sheep
Dogs of all sizes
Cats
Fish
Birds
gerbils
guinea pigs
rabbits
Horses
Pot Bellied pig
turtle
donkey
cow
chickens
ducks
...and probably more that I am forgetting about. And that is just since I've known her. I helped take care of all of them at one point or another.

pet rock (Herman the 1st)
hamster (snowball. was albino)
dog (Cairn Terrier named Toto)
little snakes (all named Herman for some reason)
little lizards (named them Herman all the time too. don't know why.)
gerbil (got loose and never found him. no time to even name him)
3 rabbits (Bugs the 1st, then later on got another Bugs and another named it Coco)
2 kittens we couldn't keep (landlord said no where we used to live but the people downstairs had one so we never thought he would say no to us)
stupid roosters and chickens (gone now and never want them again. they make too much noise and are nasty)
We're planning on getting a family dog soon. Not too soon, but seriously thinking about it for the past two years now. When the time is right, we will get a dog. :)

I loved having hamsters when I was a kid. I stopped having them after one day when I had one running around my room in one of those clear hamster balls and our English Springer Spaniel came in the room.
He sniffed the ball and barked at it. The poor hamster died of fright. :(
(And yes, I do find it kind of funny now, but not when I was 12 years old lol)

I almost forgot we've had countless fish too. Always seem to have a fish tank. :)
Oh I loved the ball thing with my hamster. I remember when I got my hamster, my dad bought me a Habitrail for it. Really nice one too. The damned thing ate right through it and got out. I woke up next day and it was gone. Found it in my closet. It was a nasty hamster. I couldn't really play with it because it was always biting. Got rid of it because it just wasn't fun anymore if you had to catch it all the time and couldn't play with it.
When my older two wanted a pet we got them a teddy bear hamster. It was nice. Didn't bite. We bought the ball for it and it was so much fun for the kids to watch it roll around the house. They loved it. :)
OMG poor hamster heart attack! Mean doggy! LOL ;)

I always had a cat whilst growing up, had a dog for a week.
I love animals as long as they're under someone elses' roof. I don't have the time, energy or inclination to look after one, and the thought of picking up dog poop from my backyard revolts me.

I guess having you over for a visit to shovel horse and alpaca poop by the wheelbarrow full is out then? ;)
