To my dismay I found out that in 30 degree weather my hands will not work well enough to tie up the latigo for a saddle cinch. Reynaud's syndrome plus tendonitis makes for a miserable experience. I figured out there had to be something better. The Missus has been watching a lot of RFD TV and mentioned there were a couple of quick cinches out there, so I went looking and found what I think is the answer (http://www.cinchemup.com/examples.html) to my little difficulty. If it works half as well as it does in the video (http://www.cinchemup.com/images/cinchemup_video2.mov), it'll be all good. I ordered one up and we'll see.

That looks like a great little system there. Easy like a seatbelt! Hope it works out well for you! :)

That looks very cool. I think I had similar when I was gaming (think barrel racing from rodeo) when I was younger and could bounce. I hated cinching up my saddle especially when my horses would push that area so I couldn't cinch it up.

I think I am going to come over just to ride your horse. I miss riding more and more.

Tried out that new cinch tonight, and it works like a champ. OTOH, that thoroughbred is one helluva lot of horse. I could feel those leg muscles rippling all the way up through the saddle. He definitely wants to go and when I do let him out, I'm quite sure there's going to be only one speed...WFO.

I've been able to ride him, with someone holding the bridle in good and tight while I mount up. He respects the bit, but it takes about all I have to keep him manageable. Earlier today, one of the 'so called' cowboys from work came over, bragging that no horse could throw him. He tried to get on, just from the side with no one holding his head and ended up flat on his back. I knew what was going to happen, you could see the animal's legs coil up just as he was trying to get a leg in the stirrup. He didn't even get his leg all the way over and the rodeo was on. Horse reared, bucked and was off like a shot. He came back just as cowboy was picking himself up off the ground and looking like, "that was fun, let's do it again" :haha: Cowboy tried it two more times with the same result.

Now, I have to break him of that. All he's ever known is someone holding him from the front while they toss the jockey up. I can also look forward to hours and hours of lunge training to teach him to gait. 16.5 hands of solid muscle, I have my work cut out for me. At my age, I don't need anymore of those rough getoffs. ;)
