For the longest time, I mispronounced this "sell-tik". It's not, it's "kell-tik".

Lots of American sports fans get that one wrong. :) Correction was provided by becoming a fan of Celtic music.

I read more than I speak. I think I mentioned my embarrassing real life experiences where I would tell the entire board how "OMNI POTENT, the monitoring software was" (yes, two different words, pronounced as OMNI and then POTENT... :)
Mage is another one. I would say it as "Maggge" (hard g). Ubber was with an upper U as in (upper) not Ooober.
There's a SLEW of them. It's my biggest Achilles Heel in English because of my reading and writing in comparison to conversations.

For me it was always Kel-tic. But Boston's team was always the Sell-Ticks. I have always figured that if they wish to mispronounce their own name who am I to correct them? It pisses me off when people try to tell others they are mispronouncing their own name. Their name is their name regardless of the spelling. The word on paper is simply a visual representation of the word, it does not magically change the word.

My much more naive point was that as a 10-year-old kid I thought the basketball pronunciation was the only pronunciation. I was not too put out when I discovered the "other" pronunciation and I still rendered unto Auerbach that which was Auerbach's. :)
