.......Can I come in?

After a far too long absence, which included a new home project in a new housing estate only recently grazing and crop land, I am BACK!

Was astonished to be informed that on occupation I would have to wait for a phone/internet service as the area required an 'infrastructure upgrade", due in a month or so. SIX+ months later, I finally rejoined the 20th(?) century. Action was finally apparent after pleas to the media and letters to all and sundry.

Our resident grand-son is in the throes of year 12 High School, and also in the selection process for 'Duntroon'. our equivalent of your West Point. Only time will tell if he makes it, but he is working his little arse off and hoping for straight Bs, and maybe even a couple of B+s.

Poor old OZ is in the final stages of the worst drought since European settlement in 1788. All water storages around the nation are at about 25% or so and usage restrictions are draconian. Signs of increased rainfall are slowly becoming apparent after about 8 years of well below average.

Greetings to all,

More later.

I can sense thae marsupial equilibrium being restored to the forum already. Welcome back.

It must have been sad having to put the signal fires out and stowing the semaphore flags after 6 months without phone service.

Howdy John. We're in a nasty drought in the Southwest portion of the country as well, but not as bad as yours it seems. Congrats on your new home, and your Grandson's acomplishments, here's to him getting his appointment!

Thank you for the welcome, I have missed the most intelligent and challenging Forum on the 'net over this past year or so.

Be assured my strong right wing views have changed little if at all. I am more certain than ever that this planet has a BLOODY short to medium future.
