Nice site that allows you to choose issues important you and then gives you your candidate based on those results:
http://www.dehp.net/candidate/
Needless to say it was a tie for me for:
Thompson 19
Giuliani 19
Didn't know that rudy was against the Iraqi surge?
Then close by is:
Paul 17
The bottom dwellers?
Romney -2
Richardson -3
Hunter -6
Brownback -7
Huckabee -21

Giuliani came back as my top pick, with Thompson running just one point behind him.
Of course, Obama and Clinton were at the very bottom of the list.
Thompson came in first at 22, followed by Tancredo at 18. Guliani was way down the list at 11.

Kucinich 63
Gravel 62
Edwards 43
Clinton 43
Obama 42
Dodd 41
Richardson 40
Biden 36
Everybody else in single digits or high negative numbers.
The bottom-dwellers:
Huckabee -47
Tancredo -58
Hunter -66
Romney -68
No surprises--as usual, the candidates I like the most are totally unelectable.
First time I voted was in 1980. Want to guess for whom I cast my ballot? (Hint. His initials were not "R.R." ;))

Thompson I disagreed with him on only one thing, and other than Hunter the rest I had disagreements on multple things. I wonder why Thompson didn't rate higher. Oh well.
Those of you who didn't have anyone with a high humber above 45 or so, I could (and do!) assume you are middle of the road centrist wishy washy namby pambies.

:haha:
SM
According to the poll is is Paul and then Trancedo and Thompson tied for second.
I don't even know who Paul is.
In the real world the ideal ticket for me would be Rudy and a conservative VP.

Paul is an ultra Libertarian. Fiscally conservative but socially liberal.

Yeah? Look who's talking! Your first choice is Thompson!

Meh.
That pretty well sums up the available choices. No one stands out enough, even the couple that came close had too many other issues in disagreement with my own opinions.
No one in this current crop of candidates suits me.

Weird, nothing else was listed.

My wife just took it and scored a friggin' 56 on Kucinich! I'm married to a closet liberal!
She did note that there aren't any questions about the economy, though.

Mine said Hunter, but I actually disagreed with that candidate on more topics (6) than I did with Thompson (1). But because I weighted some topics more important, and the point system, it said Hunter was best for me. Ummm... no. I'd rather agree on more topics, even if I lose one I consider more important.
Just for laughs, I took the cookie cutter left position on every part of that quiz, and labeled them all "key", as if I held that every single topic listed was the most important thing -

That just means you didn't consider them all key points. Some were meh, and some were important. But you agreed on all of the cookie cutter left positions. JOE!! Haven't you been tainted by SOME conservatism by osmosis? hahahaha

Everyone else was 0 or lower. Giuliani dead last at -13.
They have Obama down as a supporter for the Iraq war. I think this system is a bit flawed. I'd love to try out a more elaborate one, though... one which includes issues on the economy. Can anyone find one?

But not bad results. Obama came in #4 for me.

I'm not sure if it's me or the survey. I put "oppose" for Iran military action, I thought Giuliani was for it?
Either way, I think the results are surprisingly accurate for having the issues all screwed up, LOL.
Although I'd put Obama and Biden over Giuliani.

Ron Paul is really a Libertarian, and though I appreciate the dialog and energy he is infusing into the campaign, I don't think I could honestly support him for President as too much of his message is simply cut this, cut that, and pure, free capitalism will reign and solve everything. I really do wish it was that easy.
I do appreciate a lot of his message even though I don't believe he has addressed enough of the critical details of how is policies can be managed and developed, even if they are enacted. In particular, his foreign policy smacks too much of have our cake and eat it too... i.e., trade and deal with foreign nations but avoid "entangling alliances". Too simple a prescription for a nation as rotund as the US. No matter our intention, when we move, weight is going to be thrown around.
So, it looks like I am left with my initial number 1 choice of McCain. Although I do fear that he may not have the capacity to overcome both Giuliani and Thompson.
Giuliani rated at the bottom for me, but I can pretty much guarantee I would vote for him over a Clinton or Obama in heartbeat.

That's funny. I like libertarians, but only on the local level where they can do the most good. Othrewise, no surprises, except for Obama coming up above Clinton. Margin of error I guess (nice to know they're both in it).

I'm scared... Steve, your wife and I need to start a support/therapy group.
Kucinich came out on top. But they didn't ask some of the most important questions for me.
I've been hanging out with Joe too much. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. You just find out if your wife has been doing the same. ;)
Out here in the daylight... I lean towards Giuliani.
