Some interesting graphs provided by WSJ (http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/info-presapp0605-31.html?printVersion=true). Look at the approval rating for Truman! And with all the hoopla Clinton never reach the heights of Bush Sr.'s approval ratings, although he never hit his lows either. Carter's ratings started to plummet as soon as he was elected, hell, LBJ's approval ratings were higher than Carter's.

Ike and JFK were most consistent.

I've lost all hope for Bush as a leader. In fact I'm begining to truly fear he is really a tyrant. (http://www.newswithviews.com/Schwiesow/jim26.htm)

"One would think that President Bush had at some time in his life studied the tactics of the German dictator since he has employed very effectively these very same maneuvers in his pursuit of complete control of the domestic scene and in his application of an aggressive belligerence on the international front....." -Jim Schwiesow

The lead post is a lot more than just Bush, it's about ALL Presidents mentioned. Why are you focusing only on Bush and why would approval rating comparison of all Presidents bring out your post?

You notice that the majority of presidents took a nasty downturn in the ratings? The American public elects someone, then they disapprove, every time. Clinton was an exception, but I suspect that is due to a strong economy and no real catastrophes on the diplomatic scale. If 9-11 had happened on his watch, we'd likely be looking at a very different profile.

Without a doubt. People are fickle.
