An Australian hotel catering for homosexuals has won the right to ban heterosexuals from its bars so as to provide a safe and comfortable venue for gay men.
What do they do? Ask for sexual preference when you check in?
Peel Hotel owner Tom McFeely said the ruling was necessary to provide gay men with a non-threatening atmosphere to freely express their sexuality...
McFeely said that, while the hotel welcomed everyone, its gay clientele had expressed discomfort over the number of heterosexuals and lesbians coming to the venue in the past year. (emphasis addes by wiseass poster)
Yeah, if I were a gay man it would be all those goddamn lesbians who ruin it for me.

Thats too bad. I had a great time with my Gay brother and his friends when I was younger (they all died) and they never had any problem with me being straight. Your right about the Lesbians though, nobody really liked them much but a few of the mellower ones were cool. Most of them were just to damn nasty to have at parties.

I wonder if they would grant the same rules for a straight only club? Something tells me that would scream discrimination, while banning straights is just fine.

Well, you would think, at least in Melbourne, they would have to allow it, since they allowed this.
Nah..I know...wishful thinking that there aren't double standards.

Big step in the wrong direction if you ask me-pretty hard to ask for acceptance when you tell everyone else to piss off.

The pub owner claims his patrons are sick of being stared at by the straights who come along for a laugh at the queer boys! Apparently the doorman, being gay, can spot the straights immediately and that can be used as a determinant of who gets through the door. It's all to do with the angle of the wrist apparently.
But there's been some fights started by the straights also which is good enough reason to keep them out.

I think it's pretty ridiculous. If you want exclusivity I guess they could make it a club with paying membership?
It's a pub. And like any other pub should be expected to 86 rabble rousers!
No brews for you!
side thought... get lesbian bouncers! :blank:
It's a private business. The owner should be able to exclude anyone he wants to, for any reason. Nothing to see here, AFAIC.
