View Full Version : Death Blow to Edwards

Forget the protest on Memorial Day, that's just MSM fluff. Bob Shrum's memoir, and reflections of the man who blew eight presidential campaigns are chock-a-block with dirt on John Edwards. (http://www.tnr.com/doc.mhtml?i=w070521&s=crowley052307)

Here's the whoppers:

Shrum went on advising Edwards for several years, including as Edwards was contemplating his vote on the fall 2002 Iraq war resolution. In the one passage of the book already widely leaked, Shrum recounts (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17594267/) how he and other political advisers pushed Edwards into a vote for the resolution that Edwards--and, even more so, his wife, Elizabeth--didn't want to cast. The episode didn't make Shrum look great. But the real damage is to Edwards, who comes across as a cipher taking orders from his handlers. As Shrum puts it: "[H]e was the candidate and if he was really against the war it was up to him to stand his ground. He didn't."

And then there's this!

Kerry had qualms about Edwards from the start, Shrum writes, but grew "even queasier about Edwards after they met. Edwards had told Kerry he was going to share a story with him that he'd never told anyone else--that after his son Wade had been killed, he climbed onto the slab at the funeral home, laid there and hugged his body, and promised that he'd do all he could to make life better for people, to live up to Wade's ideals of service. Kerry was stunned, not moved, because, as he told me later, Edwards had recounted the exact story to him, almost in the exact same words, a year or two before--and with the same preface, that he'd never shared the memory with anyone else. Kerry said he found it chilling, and he decided he couldn't pick Edwards unless he met with him again."
Kerry lost because of Kerry, but the above, after it gets publicized (and it will), this will be the end of Edward's run.

Well Breck boy has always been a little daffy. And imagine Kerry knew that and was willing to put him a heartbeat away from the presidency. Telling no?

During his political career Edwards while simultaneously saying he would not use his death’s son to gain a political advantage was constantly doing just that. He talked about it on “Good Morning America”, in his book, and in many of his political or biographical profiles. In one of his ads he featured the dedication of a learning lab named after his son. During the Kerry campaign Edwards wore his son’s Outward Bound pin on his suit lapel.

Any person who loses a son or daughter must suffer a terrible pain. It is one of the worse personal losses a human may have to endure. One can only feel sympathy to Edwards or anyone else but to exploit that death and to do so hypocritically is a different subject. (See Cindy Sheehan.)

And Edwards has always been a bit “funky” as the episode you refer to is not the only example.

Using junk science, trial lawyer Edwards engaged in paranormal conversations with the dead to convince jurors that obstetricians—rich obstetricians with big insurance plans—caused cerebral palsy in babies by not performing cesarean sections soon enough. As part of his scientific case, Edwards literally claimed to channel the unborn child in front of juries. “She speaks to you through me and I have to tell you right now—I didn’t plan to talk about this—right now I feel her presence. She’s inside me, and she’s talking to you.” Edwards—or as he is known in the courtroom, the Fetus Whisper—continued, “She said at 3, ‘I’m fine.’ She said at 4, ‘I’m having a little trouble, but I’m doing OK.’ Five, she said, ‘I’m having problems.’ At 5:30, she said ‘I need out.’ (Oddly enough, the little critter didn’t add, “And by the way, I’m pro-life,” which I think would have been prudent under the circumstances.)

Source: Coulter's book "How to talk to a Liberal" and her column "Party of Ideas"

Over the ensuing years since Edwards used these courtroom tactics and style it has been shown that there is no connection between cerebral palsy and the method of delivery. In fact, since 1970 C sections are up 400 percent but there has not been a corresponding reduction in children born with cerebral palsy. The C-sections do statistically increase the risk of death, and a slew of other serious or fatal medical complications. But do you think John Edwards cares one bit. I don't.

Edwards never had a chance at the presidency---will if you don't count the possibilty that Kerry potentially could have won in 2004. :)

And I'm sure you heard about Edwards speaking at one of the California funded universities january of last year on "Poverty", and then charging them $55,000. He's worth an estimated $29 1/2 million.

I am just going to add fuel to fire here. On CNN (http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0706/03/se.01.html):

Wolf Blitzer: What is a "rich person," Senator Edwards?

John Edwards: I don't know if I know what a rich person is.

Wow! The balls!

From Best of the Web:

You might be rich person if . . .

You pay 400 bucks for a haircut, and that's with the ladies' day discount.
Your house has more square footage than most Central American counties.
You leave a larger carbon footprint than the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
Your last three jobs were medical malpractice attorney, U.S. senator and hedge fund manager.
You can talk easily about two Americas because you own at least one of them.
You are paid $55,000 an hour to speak about poverty, and that's your college rate.

Today's appearance alongside Chavez champion and business partner Danny Glover isn't the smartest move either, as Chavez acts to stifle opposition media in his own country and Glover lauds his government.

The title of this thread regrettably left me with the horrific mental image of Edwards receiving lethal fellatio from Hillary Clinton.
