This is a big deal for dog owners. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/kgtv/20070521/lo_kgtv/13361642) I can see it being used by more than just owners of mixed breeds though. I can see it being used by pure-bred owners to verify they have what they paid for as well.
A new doggie DNA kit is designed for the owners of mixed-breed mutts and tells you the exact combination of breeds found in your dog.
Experts said the kit could also provide important insight into the medical needs of your pooch.
"Once you know what the breed makeup is, there are certain diseases that are more prevalent in those breeds. So, you'll be able to be on the lookout for those diseases and actually take steps to prevent them," said Dr. Marty Becker.
