Her name is Sophie. She's an 8-week old Poochon (or Bichon-poo as they are also called). If you couldn't tell, that's a Bichon Frise/Poodle mix.

We've been talking about getting a dog for some time and today we decided to check out a few pups. After playing with 2 cockapoo pups first, we then played with little Sophie, who won us over in about 2 seconds. However, she has a little cold and we can't bring her home until she's finished her course of meds tomorrow. Try explaining THAT to a 4-year old as she's crying, "but I want to take her home now." Of course, the wife and I were feeling the same way as well. :)

She's the cutest little white poofball with such a great little cuddling personality. The whole family, ok...maybe not cat, can't wait to get her home tomorrow night.

She's a cutie!! I hope her name suits her well enough, unlike a certain Whitney we brought home last week. Whitney's name really should be bin laden, little terrorist that she is. ;)

LOL....we met a Maltese like that today. :)

Our daughter really wanted the name Sophie, which was a much better option then my Mother-In-Law come up with. She wanted us to name her Winnie (the bichon-poo).

Nope, bad choice pal!
TOO GAWDDAYM CUTE!
She'll be spoiled rotten, and own the family, in no time.

It's not too late, find an ugly dog.
At least then you'll have a chance!

But, I know ya'all aren't going to listen to me, so I wish you all the best with your new master. ;)

LOL

She had a great checkup with the vet yesterday and enjoyed being home with us last night. Being only 10 weeks (today), she needs plenty of rest so she would play with us for 10-15 minutes and then go back to her kennel and lay down for about a half hour. Rinse, repeat all evening.

So far, the potty training is going well. She's only had one accident in the house, otherwise it's always been outside. I'm not a believer in the paper method (I don't see the sense in training them to pee/poop inside the house and then train them again to do it outside), so I just make sure to take her outside ever hour or so and if she goes on the grass to give her tons of praise and a treat. After only one day, it seems to be working because this morning I saw her just sitting by the back door. I quickly took her outside and she did her business. :) I know, it's just one day so I'm sure we have plenty of accidents ahead of us, but it was sure a good sign.

As for last night, she did fantastic. She went outside for the final time around 10:30 and then I put her in her kennel next to our bed. I figured I'd hear her whining at least once during the middle of the night to go out, which is OK, but that didnt' happen. She made it through the night (until 5:45 this morning) when I took her out and she did her business right away. Of course, this could just be attributed to her incredibly big day yesterday, but again it was a good sign.

This morning, you could tell that it's setting in that this is her home. She was even more animated and loving and followed me around everywhere I went. :)

She's now been here 1 week, and she may be lucky to make it to week 2. :)

Sophie is still a doll, but I REALLY forgot just how trying the puppy stage is. I mean she is into absolutely everything and you can't take her eye off her for even 1 second. Between chasing the dog and the 4 year old around the house all night, I'm just exhausted by the end of the day.

It's all good though. She's finally starting to understand her name and actually understands the word "no" quite well now. :)

LOL....true enough. I'll tell ya though, I'm REALLY looking forward to our trip to the Dells this week. Two days away will seem like even more of a vacation with Sophie at the parents house. :)

 Pretty close. She actually is answering to "arghhhh", only because I try to watch my mouth around the 4 year old. Otherwise....

LOL. No worries Gregg. My Akita, Ronin, answers to many names that aren't really his ;)

Reminds me of one of my favorite comedy videos, Bill Cosby "Himself"

It was because of my father that from the ages of seven to fifteen, I thought that my name was Jesus Christ and my brother, Russell, thought that his name was Dammit. "Dammit, will you stop all that noise?" And, "Jesus Christ, sit down!" One day, I'm out playing in the rain, and my father yelled, "Dammit, will you get back in here!" I said, "But, Dad, I'm Jesus Christ!"

That is great! I remember when we brought Kelly home 12 years ago. He was 10 weeks old also. He went throught teething just like a baby does. Point being baby proof teh house like you had it when your 4yr old was startign to walk. Put everything out of her reach. It is amazing just how much damage a puppy teething can do to your remote controls. We brought Kelly home a few months after buying our first house. Needless to say our brand new dinette set chairs where nawed to death by our little angle.

Yep, I've learned real quick about picking everything up. All it took was one ruined thing and up everything went. :)
