John Edwards is putting his campaign on hold due to the fact that his wife has had a reoccurance of cancer. It has spread to her bones, and they are saying while it is treatable, it is not curable.
No word as to if or when he will get back on the campaign trail.

MSM jumping the gun again, I guess (http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/03/22/edwards.2008/index.html)
Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said Thursday his wife's cancer has returned but his bid for the White House will go on."The campaign goes on," John Edwards said at a news conference outside the couple's home, contradicting earlier media reports to the contrary.

Cancer sucks. I wish them both the best.

It was funny, I was working out at lunchtime and there was a TV in the workout room with Headline News on. They kept touting the press conference and how Edwards was going to announce that he was going to suspend his campaign, right up to the moment that Edwards announced he wasn't. :P

Cancer sucks. I wish them both the best.
Me, too. She quoted her doctor as saying that because the cancer was in bone that it was no longer "curable" but still "treatable." The doctor used the analogy of having diabetes.

I, too, wish the Edwards best of luck and health. I don't agree with his politics but he is a good man and his wife is a good woman.
Now, getting that out of the way I'd like to smack some 'pundits' on the net. Specifically, the holier than thou idiot Andrew Sullivan.
At about Noon, there's this on Sullivan's site:
He does it because his wife has a recurrence of cancer in some degree to be further explored. It is of a piece with his character to do this; and a simple testament that he has the right priorities and values to be a president of the United States. Sorry, Ms Coulter. But this man will be remembered for a character you do not even want to possess.
Someone about to eat crow? Admit his mistake? Fuck no.
Here's Sullivan at 12:39 p.m. (http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2007/03/edwards_forges_.html):So, despite earlier reports, Edwards will not suspend his campaign. Good for him. . . . What I saw in this press conference was the reality of family values--not the rhetoric, not the divisiveness, not the politics, just the reality of an actual family dealing with real issues. . . .
The campaign should go on, as life goes on. The cancer should neither help nor hurt it. But I will say this: Elizabeth Edwards is a truly remarkable human being. And her marriage is an inspiration.
Remarkably, in my eyes, one man DID lose credibility. Good bye, Sullivan, I will never read your stuff ever again, you fucking Democratic shill.

Somehow I expected better of Sullivan.
Then again, there's no "somehow" about it, he did lay claim to the Higher Road, didn't he?
And yes, politics aside, I do wish Elizabeth Edwards all the best and as painless a recovery as possible, and the best to John Edwards as well. Either decision would have been right for them, and it's not up to anyone else to judge it. Not Sullivan, not Coulter, no one.

Best to Mrs. Edwards. I have a different opinion of her husband though, he should take care of her, period. Sullivan is a toady and always has been. If he mentions Coulter one more time I think I'll puke. I didn't think a gay man would have such a hard on for a woman like he does.

I'd bow out if I were Edwards - Obama and Clinton will hog all the attention, so he should wait for a better time.
Same for Kerry - he was their pick, he lost, and, if he tries again, he'll be a second stringer. Maybe that's why he DID decline to run again.
