One of our cats (I know which one, too, the little bastard!) peed on our couch. Our leather couch. Three times before we noticed.

Yeah.

So, where it dribbled down to the zippers and soaked into the cushions isn't a problem. That enzyme stuff soaked into all the cushions just fine and the smell is gone.

From the cushions.

The leather covers, however.....

I've thoroughly wetted the leather in the areas that got nailed, 4 times now, and the smell actually seems to be getting stronger. I just don't think enzymatic cleansers are going to work on leather.

Anyone have any good idea on how to get the odor out? I'm not too worried about staining the leather, the way the pee flowed, only the back edge of the cushions, hidden by the overstuffed sofa back, are affected.

Found this: (http://cleaning.lifetips.com/cat/41/furniture-cleaning/index.html)

Urine Stain and Odor Removal from Leather Upholstery

To remove urine stains and odor from leather, use a mild dish detergent and water. If you can, first remove the cushion and the stuffing. Using a clean, absorbent cloth, blot up any excess urine. Mix 1/2 teaspoon liquid dish detergent in a quart of warm water. Beat with a mixer. Clean the furniture using only the suds. Do not overwet the leather. Using a new sponge, soak the sponge and wring it out as much as you can. Then using only the suds, wash the entire area. Wipe, do not scrub. If you were able to remove the stuffing, you can scrub the underside of the leather and then use a towel to help dry the area. Using another new sponge and clean water, wipe the entire surface of the leather while it is still damp to remove as much of the detergent as possible. Wash the stuffing if you can, then place it back in the cushion, leaving a dry towel between the stuffing and the leather until it is all thoroughly dry.First thing I thought of was saddle soap. Not sure if it would work though.

Go HERE (http://www.matesonchemical.com/welcome.html)

MATESON CHEMICAL CORP. MAKE A PRODUCT CALLED X-200
(liquid odor neutralant commercial grade)

You will have to call them and order this special if they still make it. Gallon container.
I found it a few years ago when a client wanted to get ferret urine odor out of a cedar chest. The urine had soaked into the wood. This stuff did the trick.

It's made specifically to neutralize odors from sewer, urine, meat garbage, fecal material, hospital and restaurant holding containers, etc.......

If you don't care about discoloration, you might try a little hydrogen peroxide; the longer the contact time, the better.

A little discoloration would be preferable to buying a new couch!
