The maniac being Australian Mufti Sheik Taj Aldin Alhilali. He has a history of making outrageous anti western statements. He was allowed to immigrate here several years ago although should never have been allowed in the country, let alone to become a resident.

His latest foot in mouth comments relate to women being the cause of rape as they are "uncovered meat" and,

said that he would only resign when the world is "clean of the White House".

A spokesperson, or apologist for the Mufti, whose job it is to try and wipe up the mess left from the bastard's comments, said that the Mufti's comments were taken out of context. Sure, of course they were.

The positive thing is the reaction from other Muslim leaders who are meeting to discuss the possibilty of sacking the Mufti. Whether that is just a bit of spin doctoring or not reamins to be seen.

At the mosque yesterday, Sheik Hilaly told worshippers there was a conspiracy involving the Federal Government, rival Muslims and unnamed foreign governments to oust him. His speech was welcomed by applause. It also emerged yesterday that Sheik Hilaly had heaped lavish praise on Sayyid Qutb, the Islamic theologian widely regarded as a philosophical inspiration for terrorist groups.

Either deport him or gaol him. Something needs to be done to shut him up.

Britain paid with blood on their 7/7 attack largely due to a Cleric's maniacal speeches (so it is currently thought). Why not learn from that mistake?

The better option is for someone to annonymously put several rounds in him. Jail won't silence him and neither will deportation.

The Israelis deal with these troublemakers very efficiently. We should follow their lead.

The NSW state premier, Morris Iemma, has made some public comments on the problem.

Mr Iemma yesterday labelled the sheik's latest outburst as extremist, reprehensible and unrepresentative.

"Enough is enough with these extremist views," Mr Iemma said.

"On the one hand, everyone is working to ensure harmony in our community ... and you have these extremist views constantly being perpetrated. It's just not on, and it is time for him to go.

"He has a responsibility as community leader to exercise his duties in a responsible and appropriate manner, and he has failed comprehensively to do that".

Mr Iemma said the sheik should never preach again. "He certainly has lost the right to continue as a leader and certainly [as] someone delivering sermons and messages."

The sheik has said he would step down as this country's muslim leader if, as determined by a meeting of other clerics, his comments were seen to degrade women. Of course they have and anyone with half an ounce of common sense can see that. Nothing has been said about his anti White House comments so far, which were also inappropriate, controversial and antagonistic. But you guys are right. The Brits leant the hard way after their clerics stirred the pot, and his retirement or deportation will not shut him up.

THE nation's most senior Islamic cleric Taj Din al-Hilali was rushed to hospital after suffering what is believed to be a mild heart attack as the federal Government faced pressure to investigate the imam's support for Islamic jihad in Iraq.

He's now on indefinite leave from his duties at Lakemba Mosque, Lakemba being a south western suburb of Sydney. Criticism of the comments and the one who made them has been coming from every quarter including both the govt and the major opposition party.

Some more positive news is that the role of mufti is to be abolished.

TAJ Din al-Hilali is set to be stripped of his title of mufti on the grounds that Australia's 300,000 Muslims do not need a national leader.

The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, which appoints the mufti, will vote to abolish the position at coming elections.

In reference to the sermon Hilali gave at his Mosque on the weekend,

Mr Sali, [a rep from the Australian Federation of islamic Councils], described Sheik Hilali's Ramadan sermon as "repugnant" to the majority of Australian Muslims and said it should not be taken to represent the true views of Islam.

Its also encouraging that Muslims here are speaking negatively and loudly about the mufti and his recent comments. Not all local Muslims are against him or what he stands for, I'm sure, but many influential ones are and they are saying they have had enough of him. It's about time they came out against him. He's been a trouble maker for a long time.

Other examples of his comments that haven't gone down well,

TAJ Din al-Hilali has praised militant jihadists in Iraq and Afghanistan, calling them men of the highest order for fighting against coalition forces - which include Australian soldiers - to "liberate" their homelands.

"It is said that in the state of zina (adultery), the responsibility falls 90 per cent of the time on thewoman. Why? Because she possesses the weapon of enticement."

I trust that the dust doesn't settle on all this and that the local Muslims do get rid of Hilali and not just talk about it. They will earn some brownie points from a lot of us here if they act quickly.
