One bloke hit another bloke and then this other bloke hit the first bloke and crikey, before you could say Jack R all hell broke loose.

Just an under 17's football match in Sydney. Sheeesh!!

It's hard to tell from the article just who won. ;)

I'd like to know more about the ethnic make up of these two teams. It's bound to be behind the emotions of this brawl.

But for now it looks like Freeman Sports won the game and Auburn won the brawl.

Freeman Sports Soccer Club's secretary Roy Paragalli said the Auburn fans "went bananas'' following a fight between two players with just 30 seconds remaining in the match - Freeman was leading 2-1.

A bit more from SMH. (http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2006/10/09/1160246038268.html?from=top5)

We see it all the time here Ditch. I think hockey is the worst, though I used to umpire baseball many years ago and it could get bad as well. But I'd say hockey is the worst. Every year you can almost guarantee at least one hockey dad will punch another hockey dad/ref/player (yes, just young kids!) and end up in jail. Sets a pretty poor example for the kids. :shake:

I'm sure there is always an isolated case, somewhere in Canada or the US where that happens. However, in all the years I played, and then refereed hockey, I never witnessed it myself (involving someone other then the players themselves that is).

Unfortunately, there will always be some jerk causing one of these situations regardless of the sport.

This type of problem is not new here. It is the scale of last weekend's brawl that has caught peoples' attention. Rowdy parents usually limit themselves to screaming and yelling as though the outcome of the game was of major significance. I cam empathise to a point. It is annoying to see the bullying antics of some kids on the ice or playing fields with their parents often spurring them on. But the over the top responses of some parents to a bad referring decision or foul by an opposing player is sometimes stunning. I'm sure you've seen your own examples of this.
