Peter Brock was Australia's best know sedan car racing driver. He was killed today in Western Australia during a rally after wrapping his car around a tree. He was 61.
I doubt that he had much of a following anywhere but here. But he was one popular fella, just as Steve Irwin was. Two in one week die doing what they were best known for and loved doing.
Peter Brock was hailed as an icon of Australian motor sport and a champion of road safety as tributes poured in from around Australia for the man dubbed "Peter Perfect".
Australians ranging from car enthusiasts to the prime minister hailed the 61-year-old sporting champion killed during a rally in Western Australia.
