I have no doubt she was a classy lady, and I hope she rests in peace. (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20060815.wmaori0815/BNStory/International/home)
I visited NZ many years ago, when I was still a Singaporean, and I was enraptured by the Maori culture, which I think adds to the life of that country.

She must have been one important woman. There was a minutes silence before the rugby test in Auckland today between the Wallabies and the All Blacks.
No, the result is OT to this thread.
We didn't win again. :tantrum:

The funeral took place yesterday.
Messages of condolence from Queen Elizabeth, New Zealand's titular head of state, and Prince Charles were read to the service.
"Dame Te Ata gave a lifetime of service and dedication," said the queen in her message. "Her leadership, dignity and compassion will long be remembered."
Three white doves symbolising the spirit of the Maori queen were released just before her casket, draped in an historic woven mat and adorned by a bird carved from jade, was carried to a large canoe, which took her up the Waikato River to her tribe's sacred burial mountain.
