I believe that Vladimir Z. has been steadily losing power and influence, although he still leads his party in the Duma, yet he continues to run for office, make speeches as though what he says matters to anyone and to travel the world spouting nonsense. (On a receent trip to the US he proposed that Russian become the second American language.) Why does he do it?

Aside from opportunities to make tons of money through various means available to Russian (and other) politicians, he has given a very sensible answer recently. He said, "One needs a career if he does not have love."

He is a joke, always was, and probably always will be. His downside started with the interview in Playboy back in 1994.

Yes, folks, Playboy is read for articles. :)

He may be a joke, and I agree, but when he made his run for president it scared the hell out of a lot of people.

INcidentally, you mean you do not look at the pictures in Playboy? :)
