Its growth rate is 7.6%, which is respectable, but, for an undeveloped economy, 9-10% would be more appropriate. (http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/07/21/business/vietecon.php) That's what the Prime Minister wants, and he's right to insist the local officials curb their corruption and encourage foreign investment.

The thing that gets me is that South Vietnam was doing the same thing decades ago, and, despite the warfare, the entrepreneurial Vietnamese were doing well. And now the communists, who accused the South of being American imperialist capitalist lackeys, are trying to do the same thing, only much later.

Tell me, how can Liberals continue to condemn the Vietnam War? How can some of them condemn the former refugees as fascist collaborators, as they have done? I just can't accept that.
