you know the punch line. (http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/02/21/bush.tapes/index.html)
Let's see, you've got tapes of the current President, who has been President for over four years, now, and those tapes seemingly point to some activities he'd rather have downplayed. So, you release some of the juicier details to the public, then turn around and state that you think you'd better give the tapes to the President because.....why, exactly?
Cat's already out of the bag, you certainly can't appear any more of a scumbag by cashing in on the deal than your actions already make you out to be. Was this guy even thinking?? :shake:

Since many of these tapes were recorded over the phone, I hope they haul his arse before a judge to explain why he violated Federal Wiretaping laws.

That's an excellent point. I was of the understanding that legally you are required to notify the other person when you are recording a call unless you have a court order to do so. Is that correct?

There are a few states where only one party is required to know of the taping.....Wisconsin is one of them :)
Stay safe all....

In Texas, if you are party to the conversation, you can record that conversation - over the phone or in person - without the other party's knowledge. The only thing you cannot do is record another conversation in secret. At least one party has to be aware of the recording.
I do it ALL the time. Officers on my shift do it all the time. We carry pocket recorders, and when people complain and lie (which I also record), we have the option to hang them for retaliation.

Perhaps it's just me, but these quips I keep hearing on the news (dope smoking and gay issues) actually make Bush look better! I certainly can't see it harming him in any way.
Am I missing something?

In 10 years, he became a millionair, governor of Texas, then President of the United States.
Doesn't sound like a stoner to me.....

.... that's what happens when you have Karl Rove controlling your every move and conspiring with all the neocons to get you elected.
That being said, his comments aboug Gays and drugs sounds well intentioned and to echo Cor, does not come out of it for the worse at all.
