Sandra Dee dead at 62

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Sandra Dee, who at the height of her fame in the 1960s was arguably the biggest female teen idol of her time, has died, leaving a legacy of film roles that includes "Gidget" and "Tammy and the Doctor."

"She was Gidget, and she was Tammy, and for a time she was young America's ideal," film historian Leonard Maltin once said of her. Dee later married another pop icon, singer Bobby Darin.

Dee died of complications Sunday morning from kidney disease at the Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, her family said. She was 62.

I have recently watched Grease again and enjoyed the "Look at me, I am Sandra Dee" number. Very funny. And this is sad.

So apple pie beautiful and so many dead kittens to her credit.

To die at 62 from kidney failure is just such a damn shame. She is already missed.

I used to wonder what had become of her, not realizing until the other day what a lonely and difficult life she had.

To a 16 year old kid she was the epitome of desirability. Sad to hear of her death and at 62, its young. That's how I'll remember her, young, pretty and blonde.
